This Learning Path will teach you how to create realistic 2 and 3D shapes and images, beginning with an overview of SolidWorks and moving to more advanced techniques for modeling your hardware ideas.

SolidWorks 2015

Get a thorough introduction to SolidWorks 2015 as you create sketches, 3D models, and engineering drawings using the tools in SolidWorks. You’ll cover basic and intermediate sketching techniques and then began to explore the 3D features, such as extruded and revolved features, lofts, circular patterns, and reference geometry. You’ll work through the different program features until you’re able to use these tools and techniques to create your own 3D models.

Learning SolidWorks 2015 – Drawing Tools

In this step of your Learning Path, you’ll master the SolidWorks Drawing Tools, learning how to create 2D engineering production drawings of parts and assemblies. You’ll cover fundamentals, views, functions, and more. From there, you’ll get into the drawing annotations and a wide range of other techniques. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to create 2D drawings of your hardware, and be on the path for taking the SolidWorks Drawing Tools Certification exam.

SolidWorks – Surfacing

This course will acquaint you with a variety of techniques used for surface modeling. You’ll learn how to recreate geometry from reference images as you work through the exercise of recreating a Ferrari Enzo steering wheel. You’ll create all the elements from the wheel itself, airbags, tachometer, and more. And finally, you add the finishing touches, set up the scene, and render the finished model. By the end of this course, you’ll know how to create surface models in SolidWorks.

SolidWorks – Molded Part Design

In this course, you’ll learn how to use the drawing tools in SolidWorks to create 2D engineering production drawings of parts and assemblies. You’ll explore the various molded features, including lip and groove, snap latch, and molded inserts as you master new techniques. You’ll dive into complex molded shapes, parting line designs, and manual draft fixes. Finally, you will learn how create a multi-body complex part. The knowledge in this course will help you prepare for the SolidWorks Drawing Tools Certification exam.
