Comments about oreilly Tap, Move, Shake:

A really good introduction to iOS programming. It's rather short - I finished it in just a few days, it was incredibly satisfying to get something running on an iPhone in such a short time. I am going to read it with my 12 yo son as an introduction to programming

Comments about oreilly Tap, Move, Shake:

Tap, Move, Shake is an exceptionally well written and easy to read tutorial to bring you from a complete neophyte to writing your first games for iPhone and iPad. The style is clear, unambiguous, detailed and precise, always giving you clues or the full explanation when they are needed. The examples included start with easy code, evolving towards more complex solutions. The elements of design, graphics, sounds, physics, all come with options and the reasons for the choices, along with easy to understand examples. The chapter on artificial intelligence (AI) will be particularly useful to you if you want to create games with embedded intelligence. Finally, you are guided through the submission and review of your productions into the App Store, as well as given ideas to market and sale your apps. I recommend this very interesting book to anyone thinking about writing a game for iPhone or iPad.

Comments about oreilly Tap, Move, Shake:

Im still getting my feet wet in iOS development and this book covers many of the questions I had around producing a quality game, with excellent examples and working code. Would like to see some more advanced topics around alternative physics engines (cocos 2d, etc) and integration with game center, and hoping the author will either expand this book or produce a follow on book that is more advanced. This book is ideal for beginner to intermediate developers.
