Comments about oreilly Learning Web Design, 4th Edition:

Although most of the content in this book can be found in online tutorials, the tips, tricks and general recommendations this book has to offer can't be had anywhere else.
The book is 600 pages long and covers mostly HTML5 and CSS3 with only a little JavaScript on the side.
My only complaint would be that the book does not cover enough JavaScript to let you do even the most basic tasks. The JavaScript chapters are mostly just pointers that tell you where to find more information and how to write the most basic instructions. It feels rushed.
Overall, this is a great book for anyone who wants to learn HTML5 and CSS3 from scratch. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a book with a proper introduction to JavaScript, look elsewhere.

Comments about oreilly Learning Web Design, 4th Edition:

A good starter for absolute beginners. Not much on the technical side and intended for people with zero programming skills. Expected more from the title. Overall supberb quality materials used for this book - from typesetting, layout, choice of paper (glossy) and ample use of color. If you read the subtitle, you will find the word "beginners". Look elsewhere if you are searching for a book to learn CSS or javascript. or more HTM5.

Comments about oreilly Learning Web Design, 4th Edition:

Just an overall fantastic book - great introduction to web design, especially if you're a developer. The HTML and CSS chapters go into great depth on individual quirks and best practices. My favorite part is that she lists out what is industry standard/what most designers choose today.

It is both a great introduction from reading it cover to cover or a great reference later.

Comments about oreilly Learning Web Design, 4th Edition:

I'm new to Web Design and have several books to help teach me, but this by far is the best. The author writes in a very familiar style so it seems as if you are sitting right in her class. The book is organized in a great way, and explains the various HTML, CSS, and JavaScript elements perfectly. If you are learning HTML5, CSS3, etc. then you need this book.

Comments about oreilly Learning Web Design, 4th Edition:

After a long time developing back-end parts of a web project or non-web projects at all, I found this book a good refresher of my knowledge of HTML and CSS. And more importantly, this book introduces a lot of new things that happening right now in the field of web design and front-end development - HTML5, CSS3, responsive design. The description of each topic is reasonably short, in the manner of 'getting started' manuals, which is exactly what I was looking for. A lot of useful link to other resources. The examples in the book is very practical also.
