Comments about oreilly Enyo: Up and Running:

Comments about oreilly Enyo: Up and Running:

      This book is great.

I was participating at an app development contest and decided to use Enyo for my entry. I was an Enyo newbie and purchased this book to see if it could help me grok the Enyo way. I read it all in one day and went on to code my app. I won 3rd place at that contest.

I credit the easiness of development and how quick I could turn my software into a quality entry to this book.

Thanks to the clear explanations and concise writing, I could use Enyo without any headache or confusion and could focus on my business logic.

This book is small but that makes it very easy to follow and it teaches you enough Enyo to go build your own apps.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to build quality mobile apps or web apps using Javascript. Enyo is a great framework and this book is the best teaching tool for it.

Comments about oreilly Enyo: Up and Running:

Its a good book to get introduced into the Enyo framework. It gets you quickly coding using jsfiddle.net(ie your apps running in the browser), and because the examples are available online, samples do not have to be typed in, to try them out.

It lacks some detailed examples eg read values from a database.....service calls etc... complex list structures

The book lacks an index at the back.

I was really disappointed with the section, regarding deployment. I was expecting a concrete example of how to deploy. I have a HP Touchpad, and I thought deploying to it would be mentioned. PhoneGap is just skimmed over(I know its a book of its own, but I thought a basic step trhough of this process owuld be included....
Then again, it is called "Up and Running"

Overall, a nice book, but I look forward to a followup

Comments about oreilly Enyo: Up and Running:

I have been using EnyoJS for some time now and like to think of myself as proficient with it. I thought that after reading all the online documentation I knew everything. I was very surprised that this very concise book was full of treasures. My understanding of the framework was deepened and I now have a feeling that I don't have to "guess" what it good or bad practice anymore.

I just wish it included a little more hands-on complex exemples (like uses for Ajax, async, nested lists, etc...).
