  • Learn HTML elements for typography, code, tables, forms, buttons, images, and icons
  • Design interfaces and other web elements, such as navigation, breadcrumbs, and custom modal windows
  • Use jQuery plugins for features such as revolving slideshows, tabbable interfaces, and dropdown menus
  • Modify everything from column count to typography colors with the LESS stylesheet language

    Comments about oreilly Bootstrap:

In his Preface, page xi, the author suggests readers download the code from the Examples link on the book's page (oreil.ly-bootstrap-web). I see no such link.

        Comments about oreilly Bootstrap:

        PROS
Before reading the book, I was looking for something on Bootstrap since I had heard many accolades about the use of Bootstrap and how easy it was to design responsive sites using it.
The book was indeed a good introduction to the open source framework involved in Bootstrap and the coding involved implementing it. By giving the Bootstrap File Structure and other coding examples, it cleared up many misconceptions on what Bootstrap is and is not.
The book will be a great reference guide when building responsive sites with Bootstrap
I would recommend the book to anyone wanting a good overview of Bootstrap and something in writing to refer to.

        CONS
After reading the book, I realized that if you do not enjoy the coding process of using html and CSS, the implementation of bootstrap is not for you.

        BOTTOM LINE:
I would recommend this book to a friend.

          Comments about oreilly Bootstrap:

This book is not perfect. However, it is a great starting point. I felt this book was more detailed and organized than the bootstrap documents. As I mentioned, I am a beginner. I had a difficulty navigating and grasping the concepts in the bootstrap documents. If you have had no difficulty reading said documents then I do not recommend this book.

I use this book strictly as a reference, not as a self-learn book. Do not expect to complete this book and become a bootstrap whiz, the author discloses this in the preface.

From an absolute beginner's standpoint, I recommend using this book as a starting point.

              Comments about oreilly Bootstrap:

Unfortunately I can only agree with the previous review by Sydney. This book about Bootstrap only contains what is already provided on the Bootstrap website. Any book that you pay for should add to what is already provided on the Bootstrap website. Sometimes the author uses the same code examples and only changes the text.
In the preface the author says "This book builds a site with Bootstrap" but the code examples in the book to not actually build a site.
The author seems to aim for an audience that doesn't exist: he says that the book is for those who have a good handle on HTML/CSS and Javascript, but isn't for those who are comfortable writing HTML. After reading the book I can only concluded that if you are familiar with HTML/CSS and Javascript you do not need this book to get started with Bootstrap.

              Comments about oreilly Bootstrap:

Really wanted something beyond what was on the bootstrap website. Seemed to be more a less a copy of the doco on the website.

Don't get me wrong the doco on the website is pretty good but when you buy a book on a subject - you expect to learn a lot more than you can from the website. Particularly grating was the less than two pages on responsive design !

Disappointing that oreilly allowed this one through.

                Comments about oreilly Bootstrap:

I was hoping to find a few pearls of wisdom, or tips and tricks, beyond what one can find by reading the online Bootstrap documentation, but few were found. Good desk reference, but not a ground breaking publication.
