It's not that the book is terribly bad, but it have made a book from a subject that it can be covered perfectly by a blog post.

Comments about oreilly The New Kingmakers:

The book has a very good insight about the new technology companies that are changing the world into developer driven world because of the disruptions like open source and the cloud (ofcourse the internet) .

The book explains about the four major disruptions that drove this shift: open source, the cloud, the Internet, and seed-stage financing making it faster and cheaper to start tech companies.

    Interesting facts:
    - Microsoft has had legal issues with the Linux Kernel and was one of the top 10 contributors.
    - Apple's success is because of developers (via app developers) - Apple has dedicated their homepage to developers when they reached 25 billion app downloads and sharing profits with the developers.
