Comments about oreilly HTML5 2D Game Development:

What a wonderful series. In it, David Geary walks you through creating a side-scrolling game, in which you learn HTML5 Canvas tricks along with javascript, but just as importantly, how to create an actual game that is nearly production-ready.

Don't let the 15 hr length put you off. The videos are well paced and in a classroom setting, with David asking 'is this clear?' periodically, and re-explaining a topic if needed (it seldom is.)

The prior reviewer's comment regarding the audio and video being out of sync doesn't ring a bell with me, I had no problems at all. And the video production values are excellent.

Comments about oreilly HTML5 2D Game Development:

I'm just a few videos into it, but I noticed that the audio is not always synced with the video, sometimes off be a couple seconds, which can be quite distracting. I tried submitting errata, but the errata page appears only intended for printable media, with required fields like page number, and list of formats only including epub, pdf, &c, no video option. In particular, the second video, 'introduction' is off by at least a second or two. Some are only slightly off, but none of them look quite right to me. Fortunately it only really matters when the camera is on someone while they're talking (speaker or questions from the audience).

The content so far is good. I like the authors approach, doing everything from the ground up rather than relying on any number of libraries/frameworks. This is helpful to learn the capabilities of the underlying technology.
