Comments about oreilly Make a Raspberry Pi-Controlled Robot:

The Python code that explains how to control the components of the simple car-like robot (which is the main topic of the book) is clear, simple and very well laid out.

It provides complete, yet concise, code snippets which illustrate how to drive every component in the project.

Of course, most of this code can obviously be transposed "as is" or easily adapted to robot building kits available on the market, which is great !

Basically this book is therefore the best companion to Raspberry Pi robot building kits.

Just a word of caution (which is not a criticism):

This book assumes a prior knowledge of Linux and of Python, therefore it includes only a very short introduction to Linux and Python.

However this is a plus because there are a lot of excellent books around about these two topics. Also it makes the book shorter and more to the point. In my opinion, too many books about the Raspberry Pi, dwell excessively on these two subjects, leaving relatively little room for concrete example on how to actually use the Raspberry Pi in a real robotics project.

All in all: An excellent book on how to get started with building robots with the Raspberry Pi and Python.
