Comments about oreilly eCommerce in the Cloud:

This is a very well formulated book with a clear vision of what a modern high transactional Omnichannel eCommerce architecture should address.

There are no books out there that describe this vision as clear as Kelly has. He is clearly someone who has been involved in some serious eCommerce sites and knows what good should look like. Omnichannel and eCommerce architectures are very much a niche area and have some very unique patterns.

Seriously, if your an architect, or customer for that matter, looking at what a modern eCommerce and Customer Experience solution should embody then you need to read this book cover to cover. Its not just about the technology he covers the massive value add and risk mitigation strategies.

Particularly liked the last two chapters that put all the pieces together. His pyramid of maturity and the elastic icing on the top with a further breakdown of what that it.

There are a few repeated diagrams/explanations, but just keep going, they serve to remind.

Its not a book that will show you how to do it at command prompt level, more it sets the scene for how you should approach the challenges and considerations.

The diagrams are really useful. He should have a section where we can download them separately so I don't have to draw them out again.

        Conclusion: buy it, read it.

Comments about oreilly eCommerce in the Cloud:

The book does a great job of defining the terms that are thrown at business executives. The writing takes the reader from a passing understanding of strange terms to a the point where they can make inform decisions on the pro's and cons of how decisions about technology implementations will impact the profitability of their company.

Comments about oreilly eCommerce in the Cloud:

This book provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges inherent in architecting large, highly scalable Commerce systems, and in leveraging Cloud technologies to overcome those challenges. Very few people have the depth of experience that Mr. Goetsch has in this area, and he brings that wealth of experience to bear in this well-written, extremely well-researched book.
