Comments about oreilly Learning Java 8:

A fantastic video. Very clear, deliberate/steady pace. I started off with curiosity about learning and ended up feeling I know this stuff!!
The approach was v good - going through a practical example and ending up with a working programme. As the author states, this was introductory into the java language. Not only is one taken through how to write java code, creation of classes, organising files and awareness of how to anticipate bugs. Especially good was the idea of 'test-driven' programming. As a beginner, I found this particularly helpful.
Had previously tried learning using a command line e.g. using terminals in linux or unix - for beginner, this had been an exercise in long hours of torture! The use of eclipse is a massive advantage/revelation.
Course was not too detailed. Sufficient info given in order to ensure learner understands concepts. It's now up to one'e imagination on how far to take this knowledge. Very helpful pointers given in the wrap up section of video.
Left me looking for more! And perhaps more books/videos by the same author!
