    Comments about oreilly Photos for Mac and iOS: The Missing Manual:

    Apple photos is a program which I had underrated. Having decided to move from aperture I found this book of tremendous help in learning how to use photos. It covers just about everything. Of course photos is a program which is being continually developed, so that aspects of a book like this can get outdated very quickly. It is a big advantage to have bought this book in a way that I shall receive updates as and when they are written. Photos is a much more complete program than I had expected, and without this book I probably should not have discovered a lot of features which are proving very valuable to me. Although I miss some of aperture's features, in large part thanks to this book, I am very glad that I have moved over. The Photos app is very responsive and the integration through the cloud works brilliantly.

    Comments about oreilly Photos for Mac and iOS: The Missing Manual:

    I purchased this book so that I could fully understand the benefits of using Photos - the book considerably eases the learning curve and is a very worthwhile buy to the extent that I also ordered the online download for ibooks at a small additional cost. I have also ordered the recently release OS El Capitan Manual by the same publisher which again I would recommend.

      Comments about oreilly Photos for Mac and iOS: The Missing Manual:

      Since I have used Aperature for years moving to Photos was pretty easy. the book has been superb in offering specific instructions for some of the new capabilities, and enabling me to transition smoothly. I am looking forward to reading the entire book. It is very well written and explains details in very easy to understand format. It is very comprehensive, and I love that it will be updated at the new Photos evolves.

      Missing from PHOTOS Missing Manual

      Comments about oreilly Photos for Mac and iOS: The Missing Manual:

      Generally helpful even to experienced iPhoto user. BUT:
      ===
      Pg. 7: Good to learn Photos turned all iPhoto Events into Albums.
      But does that mean every iPhoto image has been captured in Photos Views?
      If Yes, then can one Delete some Event-Albums.
      ===
      Pg. 116: When cropping in Photos, can one lock the aspect ratio?
      ===
      Pg. 243: "If you started with an album, they appear in your custom sort."
      This didn't work as it had in iPhotos. Book wrong or Software bug.
      Work-around is manual placement into empty Book, but images
      in the Photos Drawer pretty small.
      ===
      What happened to using JPEG numbers as search criteria? Book Silent.

        Comments about oreilly Photos for Mac and iOS: The Missing Manual:

        After several years and thousands of pix in previous Apple apps, this is a significant change. The details that describe the changes for the new Photos App are worth their weight in gold! I use this book to help me with almost all things photo - as my use of other products is very infrequent. As an instructor to a small group of users, I will recommend this book to users! I love it! Still hoping that Apple will allow us to add location info in the future, too.

          Comments about oreilly Photos for Mac and iOS: The Missing Manual:

          Lesa's light-hearted writing style captured and kept my interest throughout the book. I liked the way she started off by giving a comprehensive overview of the features of Photos for both Mac and iOS and how it works hand-in-hand with iCloud Photo Library (if you choose to use it). There are cross-references each step of the way to the later chapters where further details are available. Readers who have previously used iPhoto before moving to Photos are considered together with those who are new to the concepts of keeping photographs in a database. The book contains sufficient illustrations and I particularly liked the descriptive text beside each of them. This is especially useful when reading an electronic book — sometimes illustrations are placed too far from the associated text.
          The book is clearly laid out and I found I could quickly move to the chapter or section I needed by looking at the table of contents. I was convinced I was reading information provided by someone who had both used and fully understood the topic.
          Thanks to Lesa for providing a review copy of the book.
