Comments about oreilly RESTful Services with ASP.NET Web API:

Used this book for an Inventory management system I am developing with an iPhone front end. It really helped with me getting a deeper understanding on how REST works, what the constraints are, differences between ASP .NET Web API and WCF and just general details on the HTTP protocol. Definitely recommend checking it out whether your an experienced developer or novice.

Comments about oreilly RESTful Services with ASP.NET Web API:

I purchased this video to help with some projects...At first, it was difficult to tune my ear to the narrator, but after the first couple of videos, I didn't even notice...with many approaches to REST technology, I found the material to be well organized and helped to clarify the technology and identify use case scenarios...great value

Comments about oreilly RESTful Services with ASP.NET Web API:

This video by Fanie Reynders is a very good overview of the new generation of web services, that is web API's, in a .net context.

My attitude towards Web API has been ambivalent: on the one side, I do see the advantages of the smaller network payload; on the other hand I still think that WCF make everything really simpler.

This video is not very long (a couple of hours) but it is not only an introductory training. It starts simple, then goes into more interesting and complicated stuff as OData Filters.

The only part of the course which I didn't like pertains the fact that Mr. Reynders uses a lot of console apps to test Web APIs. This is not something I appreciated because:

          - client side: a lot of web developers only have visual studio for web, with no console application possibilities
          - server side: hardly will you ever work with a company which allows you to develop a server as a console application…
Apart from this glitch, a good video which helps you understand this promising technology.
