Comments about O'Reilly Media CSS Cookbook, 3rd Edition:

This is a very good book, but is not thought for beginners. As a lot of the O'Reilly 'Cookbook' collection, this is a book for people that already have the bases of the argument rather than for beginner. The book is very exhaustive, in my opinion, and it speaks even of HTML5 and CSS3.

I really appreciate the books that are filled with examples, and this book is exactly this kind of book . Even if I've heard different opinions, I do think that this kind of book are more useful as reference, rather than in a full read (from first page till last one) without a computer to test things. Because I have read the PDF version of this book, I've enjoed the coloured images (that is awesome for a CSS book) but I do believe that the printed edition have them in black and white (which sucks).

At last I've found time to get away from Photoshop slices, Tables and workarounds.
After having grasped the basics, I needed a lot of information: "how do I do this?", "How do I do that" - this book has answered all my questions till now. AND based on the information in this excellent book, I thought: "Well if that works like that, let's try the method like this ..." Bingo!

The only thing I would say: every chapter is full of "Problem..." and "Solution"

Why not substitute: "Challenge" and "Solution"

FYI previous reviewer -- Appendix E is at [@]The only complaint I have is that the location (generally) of O'Reilly's example code downloads seems to be insider info. It takes some minor detective work to find it -- as in the case of Appendix E. I suppose that there is concern that folks will download the code without buying the book, but why alienate the people who do buy?

It's a good book -- but where is Appendix E?Why is there any content in the book -- that is NOT in the book? Had I known that before purchasing it, I would have reconsidered the purchase.The book refers the reader to a URL (bottom of p. 677) to download the appendix -- "You can find the full version of Appendix E here: [@]"... but there is nothing at that URL about it!So I created an account and then tried to register the book whereupon I received an error message "root element had no associated DTD/schema".I just want the content I paid for -- why do I have to jump through all these hoops to get it?

Well written with helpful examples. The book covers topics I needed as a developer transitioning into design.
The biggest problem for me is the paper quality. The book makes no mention of being printed on recycled paper, but that's what it looks like. It's a bit rough, thin, and grayish in color, and unlike any other O'Reilly books I have. In the store, under bright overhead lights, it was noticeable, but the book was readable. At home, where I do a lot of my work, it is hard to read. The contrast is lower than normal due to both the roughness and the color, so it is a strain reading it.
Disappointing in a book I need for my work.

It's full of useful CSS examples, laid out in a very easy to read format. My only quibble is the HTML examples at the beginning of the book. They have no place in a book about CSS, and I'm sure anyone picking up this book already knows this stuff.
