It's all about urchin.js which was replaced by ga.js
ages ago, doesn't cover the asynchronous api, and doesn't cover Events at all.

not bad for $10, but needs an update

          Comments about oreilly Google Analytics:

Looks like this covers the *old* version of Google Analytics, not the newer ga.js code. Most of the content is still relevant but expect to spend some time in GA's online help translating.

          Comments about oreilly Google Analytics:

If you want to really understand how Google Analytics works and if you want hands-on guidelines on how to implement it - you have to buy this shortcut.

I still use it on a regular basis as a reference guide !

          A Must Have Resource

          Comments about oreilly Google Analytics:

If you are thinking about buying this book, consider first that there are two ways to set-up Google Analytics:

You can copy the tracking code and paste it into your webpage.

Or you can harness the power of Google Analytics by using Justin's book as your guide.

To truly understand your web based customer, you need to use the full functionality of Google Analytics. But what does that mean? What do you need to do? What are all of the possibilities? Really - what can you learn aside from the number of visits and views? This book will teach you what you can find out even if you don't (currently) know that you want to it find out.

But what if you have pasted the tracking code into you site, you are currently gathering tons of data and you do know what your want to know about your customer?

If this is you, I'd imagine that you've consulted GA's Help Center at some point. Have you ever felt more confused after reading one of the explanations? Yes? Well, it is time to come out of the dark. Without using fancy words or confusing analogies this book will teach you how to properly set up filters, goals, sites with multiple domains, e-commerce tracking and campaign tracking. You'll learn which functions are affected by which variables. And, for only $10, you'll have a tool that can guide your web site strategy instead of a database of hits, visits and views.

Personally, I keep it on my desktop and reference it every day. I recommend that you do the same.

          Google Analytics configuration made easy!

          By Renco Smeding

          from Undisclosed

          Comments about oreilly Google Analytics:

This is a great book which is worth much more then the 10 dollar it costs! It covers all the important concepts of configuring Google Analytics properly. I recommend everybody to read this book before searching the poor online help functionality of Google Analytics. This book is easy to read and contains a lot of useful code examples which makes it easy to understand some of the more complex Google Analytics features as working with filters, segmentation, extracting values from cookies and much more.

          The Missing Manual

          By Julius Schorzman

          from Undisclosed

          Comments about oreilly Google Analytics:

This is a great read for getting up to speed with Google Analytics in an hour or so. I've used Google Analytics for years, but this title answered several questions I have had (primarily about advanced filtering and funnels) but couldn't find answers to using the official help documents. The book is all about setting up however, not about the actual reports _ which is perfect for me but may not be for all users.
