Today search plays a prominent role and optimizing the website has become a credible skill. It talks about search engines with a special focus on Google and later gets into page ranks and talks various factors which contribute to it and also effect it. It has some descriptions and links to web based content which makes it sound informative and helpful. At the end includes some best practices and concludes with do's and dont's.

A Good Overview

Comments about oreilly Search Engine Optimization:

SEO is a highly competitive industry in online marketing. That said, any decent webmaster can learn the basics to get their site ranked above someone who was given no thought to being well-placed in search engines. The problem, of course, is learning the "tricks of the trade."

Harold Davis has put together a concise yet thorough summary of most things you need to do to be well ranked by search engines. Much of the information he shares, you could find on dozens of different blogs, but scattered in fragments that would take you a fair amount of time to compile. For this I give Harold props for picking out the best topics to include, and explaining them in an ion that the principle is true, though you may neeasy to read and informative fashion.

SEO is a very difficult topics to, because so many of the techniques you discuss can quickly become outdated. Whether you consider this good or bad, most of the techniques discussed are presented in a high enough level fashed to figure out some specifics on your own on how to apply it. If you're looking for a step-by-step how-to book, this isn't it. If you're looking for a guide of the things you need to consider and how to accomplish them, this is it.

Though most of the topics included in the shortcut would be nothing new to an experienced online marketer, there may be a few tidbits that he could pick up or may have forgotten in your recent activities. For a beginner, this book is well worth its cheap price. Save yourself the time and effort of hunting down the same information across the Internet, and then build on it from there. I would definitely recommend this book well in advance and then some of the overhyped e-books published by individuals that are just looking to make a buck. At least you know with O'Reilly behind this title, it is coming from a reputable source.

Comments about oreilly Search Engine Optimization:

It ws interesting to read this book. It is a good book for beginners, but surely if you want to become an expert in Search Engine Optimization, then Internet is your best book.

Most of the books on technologies like Search Engine Optimization become obsolete the moment they are launched into the market. Search Engine Optimization is a constant evolving technology. Several search engines constantly update their algorithms, and other search mechanisms every single month. So this book will be quite beneficial for the beginners, but if you want to become an expert, you have to rely on latest forums, and websites to catch up with seo technology.

Comments about oreilly Search Engine Optimization:

I am not going to waste time, I will be blunt the book was not what I was looking for. The fact is I found better information for free. I was really hoping for something much better but the fact is this book really was geared to newbies..

I would have to say stay far away from this book because there is much better information online for free....

Even if your a newbie you could find something so much better and not pay a dime...

I would of been nice to see black hat vs white hat tactics...

There are tons of things left out and tons of things that should have been in it..

the book was ok but not if you are a novice..

i have to say I was hoping from more with the oreilly book...

thats all i have to say..
