Comments about O'Reilly Media Cloud Security and Privacy:

I am using this book as I type for a research purpose in my Ph.D dissertation. It offers and provide a good overview of cloud computing as a model as compared with its grip counterpart.

Less information on the risks of shared technology vulnerabilities in cloud computing. It also lack information on change management and deployment issues. But is an excellent book in totality.

Comments about O'Reilly Media Cloud Security and Privacy:

This is a very good book. I really enjoyed reading it. The authors are very practical and have covered the content in good depth. The reason I'm giving 5* is the language used - simple and easy. Most technical books could put people to sleep....this one doesn't. I highly recommend this book for someone who wants to understand this subject. Thanks and happy reading!

Comments about O'Reilly Media Cloud Security and Privacy:

The primary strength of this book is the excellent coverage of security policy and strategy considerations when entering into the "cloud".

There is a solid introduction of what cloud computing actually is and the different types. This can be important as companies can commit to the cloud at various levels from just using software as a service to moving business processes onto the cloud servers.

Security at various levels is covered including who is responsible for security (the customer or the cloud vendor) and what security is available at various levels of abstraction (network, server/host, application, authentication, etc).

The middle of the book discusses the implications on privacy compliance when using the cloud. The primary issues are how the cloud affects privacy and how regulatory compliance can be met. Again the responsible party is considered.

There is a brief coverage of various cloud service providers that gives a good overview of what vendors offer.

This is a great introduction into the security policy and security strategy issues that adopters will face if moving critical business processes into cloud environments. Issues that will affect a companies ability to remain compliant within their industry (i.e. healthcare) are discussed including a listing of current privacy laws.

When considering a partial move or more into a cloud environment, this is an excellent book to raise points that need to be considered.

Recommended for potential cloud adopters and management.
