I'm just part way thru this but already found it to be one of the clearest explanations of big data in practice (thru the Big Query tool).
I know the author well and he truly is a master in the field and one of the key people behind the product.
The book is much more than a HOWTO manual, it explains the internals of the product and in general gives some really interesting insight into the design choices needed to operate at these massive scale levels.
The book is easy to read, I learned a lot and found it really fun to get thru.
Read the book, learn some fascinating insights on the internals and how to use the service to it's full potential. Learn from the best.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
