Comments about oreilly The Essential Blender:

This book is from 2007. The blender software has undergone several major revisions since then and even the interface is completely different. The author himself even states as much.

Amazing guide and first steps

Comments about oreilly The Essential Blender:

This is hands down the best book on blender available. I have dabbled in blender for about 2 years now and for the first time I feel I have actaully made progress in my ability to use blender. There are tutorials on things in blender that you can't find anywhere else, and after the second chapter (the first is a quick run of all the basic functions of blender)you will understand most of those intimidating buttons on blender. by the 5th chapter you will be able to construct things you had only dreamed of before.

In a nutshell this is The essential blender guide.
