Comments about oreilly My New iPad, 3rd Edition:

I believe you will increase your skill, have more fun, and do more things faster and better with your iPad if you read and practice what is in My New iPad, 3rd Edition.

I have been using my iPad for almost a year, and was surprised and pleased that Part 1: Basic Training, contained so many practical ways to work better.

I was provided a free copy for this review. I read My New iPad on my iPad, and I worked through the procedures on the same iPad. After reading "Multitasking Gestures" I was able to rapidly switch back and forth between reading 3 or 4 instructions and keying them into an application. This and book's design featuring short chunks of clear instructions made it easy and enjoyable.

I like the sensible organization of My New iPad. The 32 chapters with their listed topics makes it very easy to find what you are looking for, and to go back to practice tasks when you want to gain more proficiency. I also like the way each chapter ends with "Additional Ideas" for using what we learned.

My New iPad: 3rd Edition covers the iPad, iPad 2, and iPad 3. Since I have an iPad 2, I am not able to comment on the instructions for dictation, but the instructions worked for everything that is on my iPad 2.

The other major Parts of My New iPad are:
    2. Making the Most of Your iPad,
    3. Getting on the Internet,
    4. Video, Music, Photos, and Ebooks,
    5. Organizing Yourself, and
    6: Additional Tips.

"Additional Tips" ends with Wallace Wang's recommended Best iPad Apps, and the essential Troubleshooting Your iPad.
The information is presented clearly and simply. The topics are interesting, are useful, and are likely to induce you to try new things.

If you buy My New iPad: 3rd Edition you won't miss the many interesting tips like this, "If you suddenly need to access the Music app, don't forget you can press the Home button twice and swipe to the left to view the Music controls. Then you can tap the orange Music icon and jump into the full app. (This is just one random selection.)
