Comments about oreilly Node Cookbook, 2nd Edition:

This is an interesting book if you want develop applications in a javascript enviroment, NodeJS is right now a programming environment that is used increasingly in developing all types of web applications, and consists of executing javascript on the server side.

The book is very well structured, talking about how to create a server, to how to create your own modules in node, through HTTP calls, data serialization, use of database, sockets at real-time communications, the express framework for web pages, and security settings on the server.
It's especially suitable for senior profiles in javascript but with the amount of code snippets any developer could create their own applications with nodejs framework.

Comments about oreilly Node Cookbook, 2nd Edition:

Node Cookbook is that. A book with a lot of recipes useful for node programmers to improve his/her skills and find better solutions to day by day work.
It covers a lot of interesting stuff like managing stream of files, creating a server, a http request client tool, serialize data in JSON and XML, etc; but not only for web serving pages, but Network paradigms integration, computer background services and tasks.
The author guides us by a top down approach, creating a web server from scratch showing litle by little best practices with node, and finally revealing modules and tools that acomplish that work and are the best suited and most used by the node community.
However this is not a book for a beginner in node, neither a non Javascript skilled developer; a must know issue to not fail buying a node book. Nevertheless, for windows user could be confused sometimes when things don't come up like it's explained, despite the author advises and shows a solution. Not frequenly but accountable issue. An excellent book, well written and a good point to leverage our stater node's skills, though.

Comments about oreilly Node Cookbook, 2nd Edition:

          Node Cookbook -

Although, my experience with Node is of infant level, yet this book sprinkled me some points which made my knowledge and interest of a mature level and I went to exploring more aspects where I could re frame my self to be comfortable with this super amazing technology.

The Book is the Author's Experience, everything in a manner which is soothed to mind. Easy Reading, Less Brain used in thinking the process more brain utilized in exploring the ways in which I can adapt in my organizational work or development.

Node Cookbook keeps its eye on the future of programming imparting high concurrency applications. The chapters are aligned smartly for an ease of understanding.

While reading I found the starting chapters more of a descriptive configuration of a environment from where we can start. The favorite is the Chapter 1 which explained the process of making a Web Server and the one which I refer as the powerful is the excerpt of working with JSON. The Author have made it as concise as possible but have leaned to every aspect of creating a service catering the setting up of the router to security.

Node.Js with its power to work with cross applications is elegantly explained in the chapters followed. The point which I loved in the book is the alignment and the to the point view of the author from base. It was a good reading for me, a book which can be recommended blindly.

I recently got an opportunity to go through the second edition of the Node cookbook. This book is for JavaScript enthusiasts, engineers, and experts. This book vividly illustrates how to leverage your JavaScript skills to craft well-written server-side software applications. The book is stuffed and saturated with a number of easy-to-grasp examples with their source codes. All the tips, techniques, and technologies for implementing Node-inspired web and enterprise-scale applications are clearly explained by the author. This book is developed with the aim of lessening the workload of web application developers and moderating any kind of security risks. Beginning with making your own web server, the practical recipes in this cookbook are designed to smoothly help you progress to make full web applications, command-line applications, and Node modules. There are some critical additions in the second edition. With the surging popularity of big data analytics, NoSQL databases are gaining more market and mind shares these days. This book has separate chapters for describing in detail about web applications interfacing with various databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis. Additionally there are descriptions on working with web sockets, and interfacing with network protocols, such as SMTP. Additionally, there are recipes on handling streams of data, security implementations, writing your own Node modules, and different ways to take your apps live. The chapter 8 explains how to set up an SSL-secured web server, use the crypto module to create strong password hashes, and protect your users from cross-site request forgery attacks. The chapter 3 explains how to convert data from your apps into XML and JSON formats when sending to the browser or third-party APIs.
In a nutshell, this book is a boon and handy guide for developers for bringing forth many kinds of specific as well as generic high-quality web applications using Node, which is emerging as the viable and venerable alternative to all the traditional web application development languages and frameworks.
