Starting with how to create maps, you will learn about choosing your basemap and customizing it by adding various attributes such as zoom, start view, pop ups, and so on.

Once you have gained experience of creating your own map with Leaflet, you will move on to combining Leaflet with GeoJSON and adding geometry objects and features to your maps.

Moving ahead, you will proceed to create custom markers using images and discover various plugins such as the Cluster Marker plugin, the Bouncing Marker, and the Animated Marker to animate and move markers. You will then explore the latest ESRI features available on Leaflet and make use of its updated JavaScript library.

Finally, you will understand how Leaflet enables you to use Node.js, C#, and Python alongside its own library to efficiently create maps.

    Comments about oreilly Leaflet.js Essentials:

The text of this book is very user-friendly, taking the reader step by step through lines of code, articulating the goal as the example unfolds

While the coding examples in the text itself are incomplete, thus far, I have found that the downloadable code available from the publisher's web site does in fact run exactly as expected, producing the desired result

If you keep this in mind as you proceed, this book is a valuable addition to gaining a working understanding of Leaflet.js

    Comments about oreilly Leaflet.js Essentials:

I just got this e-book a couple days ago and I was shocked to see how many errors there are in the code samples. Right from the start, bottom of page 8 and top of page 9 in the pdf version, the code to access a hosted copy is wrong, both for the css and for the js. Later on starting around page 15, I see "varusgs" instead of "var usgs". Page 17 : "Varnexrad" instead of "var nexrad". And so forth. Page 39, the code at the top of the page looks like it has been duplicated. Page 42, the alignment layouts are inconsistent in the GeoJSon examples - same on page 43. If you already have a solid grasp of javascript syntax, you might get through this. But evidently the code was not proofread with any care. I only got to page 42 before writing this review. Can't tell if it gets better or worse later in the text.
