    This book is clearly an excellent introduction to the C++ openFrameworks creative coding framework but also to creative coding per se, which is basically coding interactive and/or procedural graphics and audio output from diverse input. It can range from "games" to data visualization, or even mathematical visualization or autitive representations.
    The book itself targets programmers that want to dive into creative coding, so you need some background in C++ to understand the code. However, openFramwoks doesn't really expose idiomatic C++. The interface represents well how grpahics programming and most library interfaces (other than these in boost) were typically written 10 years ago, when this framework was born. This is not really a problem as your focus while reading this book is to know more about the graphics, audio and interactic domains, not about programming in C++.
    And I must say that the book is efficiently designed to introduce you to most things you need to know in each of these fields, plus basics related to data visualization and other useful aspects of creative coding (which are also the basis of game development, soft-real-time
    application development and simulation development).
    The book propose entertaining projects that are easy to get interested in and are fun to play with once it's working. Each concept needed to understand how each project works is explained, in basic terms, so that you have enough to understand all the details (and I guess, enough to be able to search for more information later).
    Beware though that onpenFrameworks is a framework, a context in wich you plug your program in, not really designed to be a modular library but really designed to make you focus on the creative code. It's important to know when you consider using this library for a project. This and the not-idiomatic-c++ side of openFrameworks are the main differences with, for example, SFML (which however provide less features).

    All in all, it's an excellent starting point to understand both openFrameworks and creative coding.
