Comments about oreilly Applied Architecture Patterns on the Microsoft Platform, 2nd Edition:

Applied Architecture Patterns on the Microsoft Platform Second Edition, is essential for any architect working with the Microsoft stack. It starts with an excellent guide to the questions needed for sound requirements and finishes with details for creating sound architecture. Throughout the book there are numerous use cases complete with code to help demonstrate how the solutions could work.

The book provides primers on biz talk, .NET, SQL Server and SSIS and SharePoint. It acknowledges Azure and I wish it could have gone into more detail on that but the 450ish pages are crammed with information. I expect the next version will cover more of Azure as Microsoft continues to develop this technology.

Applied Architecture Patterns on the Microsoft Platform is neither a tutorial or a cook book. But it provides an in depth look into the Microsoft Platform that will benefit both experts and beginners who have some understanding of the Microsoft platform and basics of software architecture. The examples cover common problems and demonstrate the process of comparing and evaluating different technologies. I'm already finding it to be a valuable resource and expect it to continue to be one if my go to reference books in the future.
