Comments about oreilly Sound Mixing Tips and Tricks:

SOUND MIXING: Tips & Tricks, by Eddie Bazil.

Review copy of this book supplied by O'Reilly.

This is a fascinating book _ not only for the musician, the sound or effects guy, or professional Mixer, but also for anyone with a keen interest in sound recording.

Its all written in easily understood language, starting with simple sound concepts it builds your mixing ability, whether you are a sound teckie, recording buff, just starting with Garage Band, or Logic or Cubase.

There are many aspects to Sound Mixing, that this book will provide answers to. Answers provided by a deep knowledge of how sound works _ and Bazil is an expert. For example, it covers dynamics, effects,

compression, levels, panning and much more. It even deals with the advantages of quality equipment, the right mixing room layout, the mikes, the speakers, and the sound insulation factors.

It's a book that is highly recommended for students of sound mixing, as it has before and after effects, and in layman's terms offers you a sound education in basics. For musicians, many chapters will provide answers to your questions, such as mike placement for various instruments, and even voice _ a huge subject in itself.

Many of the lessons are simplified by the use of audio examples, large screenshots, and before and after examples. It's a foundation piece, and an essential book in the library of everyone interested in Sound.
