    This is a book full of worldly wisdom and the subject matter just happens to be web design.
    The examples can be applied to just about any project which requires background analysis in other words "all of them".
    I loved this book because of its honesty - managing to be practical and grounded in the real, chaotic commercial world and not some idealised fantasy land.
    The series - a book apart - covers all aspects of web development and each book is written by a subject matter expert. Each book manages to be both authoritative and focussed so the subjects are definitely not dealt with superficially.
    The style reminded me of another book in the series "Design is a job" both of which managed to make me laugh out loud. It shouldn't then come as a surprise to know that Mike Monteiro and the author are business partners at Mule Design.
