Comments about oreilly Developing an Electron Edge:

I now have a really good understanding of Electron. This book is straightforward and to the point. I didn't find myself skimming any pages or chapters. And there was plenty of detail when I needed it. I converted a web app to a desktop app in no time. I can see myself picking the book up again to double-check something, especially when it comes to some of the trickier areas. It gives a nice insight into using a single project for a web app and Electron apps as well.

I didn't know anything about Electron, it was just by curiosity, and this book covers all the parts I wanted to know about. It's really easy to read! I'm sure it's a good book for everybody who want to have a first approach of Electron and some advice from people who used it :)

Comments about oreilly Developing an Electron Edge:

Was in the middle of rewriting nw.js projects over to Electron. Came across this book. Have to say this book is great for references and getting a better knowledge of some of the aspects of Electron that where overlooked in other books and guides. The examples are great and overall a great book for any student or developer getting into electron. My personal favourite is it covers how to distribute the app with an installer.

Comments about oreilly Developing an Electron Edge:

This is really good. I read it pretty quickly. I came away pretty exciting about building a desktop app. There's actually a lot of interesting things you could do with this combination of Web APIs, Node APIs, and desktop APIs.

Good introduction to Electron/nw.js development, would be nice if there was an accompanying GitHub repo with the examples.

Comments about oreilly Developing an Electron Edge:

I think the simplicity of this book is it's main feature. It's super easy to digest, and easy to understand. I'm glad to have finally found a book that's specifically about creating desktop apps using Electron, and it's really nice that the book covers plenty of desktop-only features for the three big PC platforms. This book even covers how to actually distribute the app with an installer.

Comments about oreilly Developing an Electron Edge:

This book is mostly just a rehash of the documentation. There is very little worthwhile content. When they finally get to a full example (a markdown editor with a preview window) in chapter 9, they don't adequately describe how to lay out the project or where to put all the code they are showing in the book. I couldn't get the first part of the example to work. It would be nice if there was a repository somewhere to compare against.
